Art Shape's Courses 2017

First Steps Courses 

These courses are now running, there is still time to book on. Each course will be made up of 6 sessions at 2 hours per session and are free, participants must be either unemployed, on a low income (Less than £330 a month) or below a full level 2.

Our Town, Our Festival

Fridays 1:00 - 3.00pm

June 9th - July 14th

Holy Trinity Church, 10 Oldbury Road, Tewkesbury, GL20 5NA

On this course you will create a visual montage of photographs, sound and video footage that capture the essence of Tewkesbury and the community as they prepare for the Medieval Festival in the summer.

Gloucester Resource Centre, Alfred Street, Glos, GL1 4DF

On this course you will explore a variety of hand and machine sewing techniques using a variety of fabrics and accessories. You will discover where to research for inspiration, how to develop your own style and the routes available to market and sell your own work.  

Create . Design . Sell

May 18th - July 6th

Community Resource Centre, Grove Street, Cheltenham, GL50 3LZ

On this course you will work alongside tutor and professional artist Mike Carter, to design and produce saleable items. You will be taking new and existing designs and learning how to transform them into products such as cards, mugs, colouring books etc. ready for the launch of Art Shape's online shop.

Get creative with greetings cards using a variety of drawing and printing techniques.  Finished designs will be professionally printed on to cards, for you to sell on Art Shape's online shop 

Employability Courses 

These courses are now running, there is still time to book on. Each course will be made up of 8 sessions at 2.5 hours per session. Each course focuses on a range of recognised employabilityskills, allowing you to build a toolkit that will enable you to progress ontofurther opportunities.

This course focuses on your arts practice and explores how you can turn that into a small self-supported home grown micro business or co-operative/social enterprise. Sessions are a combination of practical and theory based activities to help you recognise and develop your skills in this area. 

Get Creative in Health and Social Care

This offers you an opportunity to learn a range of skills that will enable you to run creative activities in a workplace. Aimed at those interested in working in the Health and Social Care sector; this course allows you to explore your creative ideas and how to practically apply them when working with groups of people. It is ideal for those who would like to progress onto accredited courses in this area.

This course aims to develop the skills and experience of those wishing to develop their artistic career in a practical and employment focused way. You will be empowered to take responsibility as you plan and reflect on your learning programme and artistic practice. Expert guidance will be provided. Transferable skills such as CV writing and interview techniques are an important part of the curriculum.

Festival Fever

This course is designed to boost your confidence, encourage new partnerships, embed new skills and develop aspiration as you prepare yourself to volunteer at a local music festival or event. You will have the opportunity to explore the roles and responsibilities required to volunteer at a community event. You will be supported to put your new skills into action in a volunteering placement at the event itself.
