Current Projects

Art Shape works across Gloucestershire to increase access to creative experiences for those facing barriers to participation. Art Shape researches gaps in the provision of creative opportunities, and develops and runs projects that inspire, encourage and promote the creativity of artists and participants

2016 - 2017

Going the Extra Mile

  • The Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Project aims to engage with and support Gloucestershire’s hardest-to-reach, most vulnerable unemployed and financially-excluded people, who face multiple barriers to work. GEM’s primary objective is to move these people closer towards education, training, volunteering or work, including self-employment. This project is a partnership of community focused organisations, managed by Gloucestershire Gateway Trust on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council. The GEM Project is jointly funded by the Big Lottery and European Social Fund.

Art Bridge 2
  • Art Shape has received generous funding from Arts Council England to run Art Bridge II: a program of creative development for artists who face disabling barriers and wish to develop or progress their artistic career. The course comprises of an online course and/or studio sessions.

2014- 2015

Art Bridge

  • Our innovative Art Bridge programme, funded by Arts Council England, consists of a supported, professional, high-level programme of artistic and professional training and mentoring, delivered over 2 calendar years for talented and emerging artists facing disabling barriers. The programme is in its second year and currently Art Shape are developing an online version of the course which will go live in November 2014.

Your Future

  • We are currently in Year three of a project designed to increase confidence and self-esteem of children, young people and adults who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse. Commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council, Art Shape manages the Gloucester-based provision. Access onto this programme is via referral by a lead professional, the sessions are run by trained artists who understand the issues surrounding domestic abuse.

Creative Volunteering

  • Generous funding from the Gloucestershire Community Foundation has enabled us to team up with GlosDance as part of the wider Arts Inc. Project and deliver a programme that will extend our reach to both attract and support volunteers. We are particularly interested in communities that we have found harder to reach and we aim to improve their volunteering experiences.

Arts Inc. Academy

  • The Academy is designed to accommodate disabled and disadvantaged children and young people aged 8 – 18 years, enabling them to access an exciting and vibrant arts programme alongside their non-disabled peers. Participants are enjoying exploring dance, film, animation and visual arts with artists and dance practitioners experienced in facilitating inclusive art sessions.

Of Course We Can

  • Our week-long courses run in partnership with 'Active Impact', a social enterprise based in Gloucestershire tasked by Gloucestershire County Council to provide opportunities for disabled and non-disabled young people to take part in a variety of activities together building confidence, skills and friendships. We have recently run workshops entitled Carnival construction which was linked with the Gloucester carnival.

"Harriet and staff from Art Shape- just wanted to say a huge thanks for creative constructions and to let you know J has really enjoyed it!"
